Buff and Shine Buffing Class

Join PDP and Buff and Shine for this special one-day buffing class on August 2, 2022 with Justin Labato, former IDA President and reknown detailer, and Clint Hintz, Buff and Shine's regional sales manager.

 

Learn everything about Buff and Shine pads and much more while connecting with industry icons right here in Canton, Ohio at PDP's IDA-recognized training center. From seasoned professional to enthusiast, this session will have something for everyone.

 

Justin Labato has decades of experience from running his own detailing shop, JL's Showroom Auto Salon, serving as the 2018 IDA president, detailing with The Detailing Mafia (official detailers of Air Force One), acting as brand ambassador for Buff and Shine and Detailing Director in Training at AutoGeek.

 

Clint Hintz has worked across the industry with over 20 years of experience from Auto Magic to now Buff and Shine. Clint is also a member of the IDA's Founder's Club.

 

 

1/24/17 - Exterior Coating Technology Course

The Exterior Coating Technology Course covers the application of the Ceramic coatings. In this class, we were working on a demo 2017 Ford Fusion, we did a light scratch correction and began the coating application. The 9H ceramic coating was applied to the paint, trim, glass, and wheels. The coating will give this black beauty the protection it needs and the lasting shine it deserves.

 

  

 

 

1/10/17 - Exterior Coating Technology Course

A brand new Maserati deserves the best!!  After claying and some minor factory imperfections were corrected with the Bigfoot polisher, PDP PW100 Panel Wipe was used to create a perfectly clean finish ready for bonding.  Then the 9H ceramic coating was applied to the paint, trim, glass, and wheels.  Eye-popping gloss and Scratch-resistant! 7/19/16 - Buffing W/ Large Footprint Orbitals

This 3 hour class goes through a complete hands on demo on how to remove imperfections and achieve swirl free finishes, often in one step, with the new revolutionary Rupes BigFoot Orbital polishers and the new Flex Long Stroke Orbital.  We will discuss tips, time-saving techniques, chemicals and application

  

  

 

6/7/16 - 5 Stages Of Reconditioning

This is a full day Class on the process of a complete general detailing of a car.  Safety, product knowledge, application, process & procedure are explained in the classroom and hands-on performed in our training center. 

We cover the basic 5 Stages of Reconditioning

1.        Detrash/Pre-spot – Interior Prep Process, Pre Spotting, Cleaners, Enzyme, Tools
2.        Wet/Wash Bay – Cleaners, Degreasers, Tar, Bugs, Exterior Contaminants, Soaps, Accessories, Tools
3.        Interior – Carpets, Cleaners, Tornador, Extractors, Windows, Odor Removal, Process, Application
4.        Exterior Buff – Rotary, RO Buffers, Swirls, Scratches, Oxidation, Protection, Technique, Application
5.        Final Out – Inspection, Quality Control, Finalization of Proper Detail

  

  

   

 

5/16/16 - D.I.Y. New Car Maintenance

This 3 hour classroom/hand-on seminar is designed for the car enthusiast or just someone who prefers to do it themselves.  Our qualified, professional staff will go over basics of cleaning and maintaining your automobiles….right at the comfort of your own home.  Product knowledge on Soaps, cleaners, tools, accessories, waxes and more….as well as application techniques to keep you new OR used car looking it’s best!!!! Hey Ladies!...we know you love your cars too…so come join the fun!

   

  

   

 

11/30/16 - Headlight Restoration 101

This short 1 hour seminar teaches:

• Polycarbonate headlamp technology (coated plastic headlamps used on all modern vehicles).
• Reasons for headlamp fading and discoloration.
• Proper use of tools and techniques for a superior finish.
• Restoring headlights and taillights.
• Innovative sealant application to protect the headlights for up to 12 months.
• Proper restoration techniques by hand and/or machine.
• Protection against UVA and UVB solar rays.

1. Upon arrival, how was the appearance of the facility and Training Center? 

 The facility was clean, well organized, easy going staff & very helpful. The Training Center was amazing. I instantly felt that it was a place for "Professional Detailers". Very organized, good flow of each stage of testing.

 

2. Did the seminar begin on time and did instructor and facility seem prepared upon scheduled time of seminar? 

 Yes it started on time, I was actually ten minutes late. An yes the facility & instructors were very well prepared. As soon as i came in the staff up stairs said " Good morning; are you looking for the Training Center? ", they somehow just knew & we've never met. They instructed me on how to get there. The instructors welcomed me, offered me coffee, explained the process an were professional, pleasent & funny throughout the entire time i was there. They are sure assets to have. 

 

3. Was the facility ( Training Center ) conducive to the goals set forth in attending the chosen seminar? 

 Yes it was perfect. Very clean, really good lay out & comfortable to work or test  in. I've never been in a Training facility before for detailing, but I feel that every Training Center should model themselves after PDP. Having a sperate classroom closed off with video which was super cool & the way it was set up an having it right there on the floor with other training area was perfect. 

 

4. Did the facility offer both classroom and hands on capabilities as stated in the class description by our staff or info at www.pdp.biz? 

NO. It did not; it exceeded my expectations in more ways than one. The classroom was great by itself, the testing & capabilities described was understated. I had seen pictures & thought its nice an looks good. Then i got there & seen it with my own eyes & was Wowed an changed my thinking & feeling about the intire place to " This is the best ever". I felt as if it was a place of business for professional detailers & at the same time that it was built to help detailers succeed. Personally I would not change one thing. Testing at PDP is one of the best experiences i've had as a detailer & HIGHLY reccomend for anyone on any level of detailing seriouly go there for any detailing needs. From traing to products or even advice. Its a one stop shop for any & everything detailing related.

 

 

Clinton you guys were great & I truely appreciate all that you've done & will do. Keep doing what your doing, this industry needs all of you. An if there is anything i can ever do to help you guys, please don't hesitate to ask.

      The new facility is awesome. Great projector that was was easy to see and speakers were loud enough that even I could hear.

      Yes, everything got started promptly and it was easy to see that everyone was prepared.

      Yes, the training facility was a great environment to learn. Great energy and great room layout.

 I attended a class that had classroom learning and hands on out in the auto bays.  I couldn't believe they had a brand new black Camero that we learned on. Wow, what a nice auto.

At our Car Wash / Detail Center we focus on quality first and service second. We can see those same priorities with PDP. The PDP classroom allowed us to learn about the newest products, equipment and techniques from many different manufactures. The industry is always changing and it is great that PDP keeps us informed about the best in all of these areas. Then, we can go into the auto bays and practice the new techniques and products on a brand new camaro with experienced instructors making that I and my staff are taught the correct way to use the newest equipment. Where else could you do that?  We feel very fortunate to be able to attend such informative classes at PDP. I'm the owner of Karam's Car Wash and would highly recommend PDP to any owner for them or their staff.
