The History of Professional Detailing Products (PDP)
From a wrecking yard and parts store to one of the nation’s go-to detailing supply stores, Professional Detailing Products (PDP) has had quite the history before we got to where we are today.
1933
Max Rubin, founder, begins Ohio Auto Supply during the Great Depression as a wrecking yard and parts store at 3rd and Cherry NE in Canton, Ohio.
1947
Phil Dickson returns from overseas service in WWII to join his father-in-law in business.
1951
Ohio Auto Supply moves to its present location on West Tuscarawas St. in Canton.
1970
Phil Dickson begins distributing Pro Car Beauty, the first automotive detail line in the area for professionals.
1980
Michael Dickson joins his father, Phil, in the business.
1984
Mike and Phil begin manufacturing the Professional Detailing Products line.
1998
Mike builds a new facility on West Tuscarawas St. to expand the company’s manufacturing, warehouse, office and showroom space.
2009
Ohio Auto Supply focuses 100% of its resources on the manufacturing and distribution of Professional Detailing Products and Car Wash Solutions.
2015
Ground was broken again in Spring 2015 to add 4,000 square feet to PDP’s Canton facility, making more room for manufacturing and inventory as well as a state-of-the-art detailing training facility in honor of Phil Dickson.
2024
PDP launches a new website to serve not only professional detailers but also at-home enthusiasts looking for the industry’s best.
